Compared to the award-winning NH-D15, the S-version employs an off-set, asymmetrical layout and a single NF-A15 fan instead of dual fans. This allows the NH-D15S to deliver state-of-the-art heatsink performance while maintaining superior RAM and PCIe compatibility. The asymmetrical layout of the fin-stack is offset towards the upper edge of the motherboard when installed in standard orientation, enabling it to clear the top PCIe x16 slot on most current μATX and ATX motherboards.

Furthermore, the recessed lower fins on the NH-D15S provide 66mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks, making it compatible with most high-end modules on the market. This compatibility is excellent on both Intel and AMD sockets, as the lower fins are recessed on both sides of the heatsink.

The included NT-H1 thermal compound, which has received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, is a proven professional-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use, and outstanding reliability.

The NH-D15S measures 160mm in height, 150mm in width, and 135mm in depth, with a weight of 980g without the fan and 1150g with the fan. The cooler is constructed using copper (base and heat-pipes), aluminum (cooling fins), soldered joints, and nickel plating.

The scope of delivery includes the NF-A15 PWM premium fan, an NA-RC7 Low-Noise Adaptor, fan clips for a second fan, NT-H1 high-grade thermal compound, the SecuFirm2 mounting kit, and a Noctua Metal Case-Badge.

The NH-D15S is dual-fan ready, and users can upgrade it with either a second round-frame 140mm fan with 120mm mounting holes (such as the NF-A15) or a common 120mm fan (such as the NF-F12) to improve performance while maintaining compatibility with RAM modules of up to 45mm height.

The NH-D15S is compatible with a wide range of Intel and AMD sockets, including LGA1851, LGA1700, LGA1200, LGA115x, AM5, and AM4. It is not compatible with LGA20xx Square ILM, LGA20xx Narrow ILM, LGA4189, LGA4677, TR4, SP3, sTRX4, or sWRX8.
